SIP Media Gateway

The Falcon Media Gateway enables enterprises to deploy both voice and data over IP networks. The gateway can be configured for both ISDN-PRI and CAS protocols to provide an interface between PSTN and PBX circuit switched networks and packet switched networks using SIP protocols. A SS7/ISUP option is also available. All major T1 and E1 Central Office and PBX signaling protocols are supported for World-wide deployment.

SIP

The gateway supports RFC2543 in addition to the REFER/NOTIFY and INVITE/Replaces call transfer methods. The SIP protocol implementation is script-based to allow quick adaptation to the still-changing SIP protocol specification.

Remote Management

The gateway may be managed from any Windows or Unix system. SNMP support is provided for the transcoder, trunk, and operating system components.

A telnet interface provides management and configuration capabilities of the gateway. Features include:

Trunk management

  • Place circuits in-service

  • Place circuits out-of-service

  • Place circuits in maintenance mode

  • Assign trunk group members

  • Display trunk status (idle, busy, maintenance-mode)

  • Display trunk group statistics

  • Remove span (T1/E1) from service

  • Put span in service

  • Dynamically Enable/disable PSTN protocol tracing at span level.

  • Display span statistics and error counters.

SIP management and configuration

  • Configure SIP proxy registration

  • Enable/Disable proxy registration

  • Display proxy registration status

  • Enable/disable SIP message logging

Call routing

  • Inbound number translation and routing

  • SIP To:/From:/Request-URI header contents supplied from number translation configuration tables.

  • Outbound trunk group selection from To:/From header translation configuration tables.

  • Configurable trunk specific dialing plans.

  • Direct SIP end-point routing for specific DNIS or ANI numbers.

Alarms for service impacting errors are logged to an alarm stream

  • T1/E1 carrier group alarms (RED, Yellow, Blue, etc.)

  • All trunks busy alarm (configurable thresholds for set and reset for each trunk group)

  • Transcoder hardware errors

  • Support for multiple alarm streams

Call Record Logging

  • Full Call Detail Record (CDR) logging.

Diagnostics

  • Complete logging of transcoder functions and events, PSTN functions and signaling events, SIP messages, and call routing may be selectively enabled and disabled dynamically.
